Scotland v Brazil - World Cup 2026 at BAaD

There are football matches, and then there are occasions.

When Scotland took on Brazil, one of Glasgow’s most vibrant pre-match celebrations took place at BAaD (The Barras Art & Design), where the sounds of samba mixed with the anticipation of international football. We were delighted to be part of it with a special Zico pop-up shop.

From the moment the doors opened, there was a fantastic atmosphere. Scotland shirts stood proudly alongside Brazil colours, proving once again that football has a unique ability to bring people together, whatever side you’re supporting.

Our pop-up featured a carefully selected range of retro football shirts, Scotland 2026 merchandise, books, prints and exclusive Zico products, with the famous yellow Brazil shirts sitting proudly beside classic Scotland designs. It perfectly summed up what Zico has always been about – celebrating football culture and all things World Cup 2026.

This fabulous evening included samba dancers in colourful costumes and infectious energy that brought a real taste of Rio de Janeiro to the Barras and quickly became one of the most photographed moments of the event. It was a reminder that football isn’t just ninety minutes on the pitch – it’s music, colour, fashion and shared experiences.

Delighted to be interviewed live on Brazilian Television to chat about the Brazil sides of the past, 1982 and the story behind our fashion business. We also appeared on Favela Beer’s socials, hosted by the brilliant Alison Rodrigues. Huge thanks to Rodrigo from Globo TV, who left with a copy of We Made Them Angry by Tom Brogan and a GARRINCHA shirt to come!

We were also overwhelmed by the response from supporters. Plenty of familiar faces dropped in to say hello, browse the collection and chat football. Seeing people discover our Scotland prints, retro shirts and books while sharing their own football stories is exactly why we enjoy taking Zico out on the road.

A particular thank you goes to everyone who organised the BAaD pre-match samba party. The venue provided the perfect backdrop, creating a relaxed festival atmosphere before kick-off and showcasing everything that’s great about Glasgow’s football community.

Events like this reinforce what we’ve believed since opening our doors in 2006. Zico isn’t simply a football shop – it’s a meeting place for supporters, collectors, travellers and anyone who appreciates the game’s rich history and culture.

We’ll certainly be back for more pop-up events in the future. If you couldn’t make it along, keep an eye on our social media and website, as we’re always looking for new opportunities to bring a little bit of football nostalgia to fans across Scotland.

Until next time… Obrigado, BAaD!

An Evening With Irvine Welsh

What a night! We took over Barras Art & Design for an unforgettable experience that was part literary grit, part acid house energy, and 100% Glasgow.

From the moment the doors opened, the vibe was electric. Fans arrived to a spread of Granton Star merch and stacks of classic Welsh novels like Trainspotting, Filth, and Glue.

The Lowdown

The Q&A: Irvine took the stage for a raw and insightful discussion, diving deep into his work and the culture that inspired it.

The Atmosphere: The crowd was hanging on every word, with the BAaD's unique industrial aesthetic providing the perfect backdrop.

The DJ Set: Once the talking was done, the "No Fuss" Friday really kicked off. Irvine moved from the mic to the decks, spinning a high-octane set that had the entire room moving.

It wasn't just a book talk—it was a proper session. Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a superb night!

Special thanks to East End Radio for capturing the energy on video and on the Amy’s Books radio show the following Monday!

Previous Events
We have hosted several live events over the years, from pop-up shops to live catwalk fashion shows. Zico has more events booked in for the next two years and will update you all as soon as they launch! The photos here are from our latest fashion

show, a brilliant corporate gig which we have been fortunate to host for the last two years running. We previously launched our 2023 and 2024 Winter Collections at these events, which were really fun and successful nights. Huge thanks to everyone who

came along both nights! Following the runway show we set up a mini shop and had a fantastic ‘early bird’ sale for the guests. We are always open to corporate offers so please get in touch if you’d like a wee Zico fashion show at your event in future!

From the vaults - Celebrity Fashion Show

Here is a wee throwback to the launch of our second store in Queen Margaret Drive and our summer collection at Bar Buddha in Cresswell Lane. We were joined by television

stars from River City, High Road and Still Game in a superb night of fun and laughter and great clobber, alongside our latest collections and Brazilian dancers in a real samba

Festival of colour, with live DJ sets and a packed crowd as we brought a wee slice of Copacabana to the West End of Glasgow. Big shout out to our illustrious models, including

Frank Gallagher and Chris Brazier from BBC Scotland soap opera River City. They were joined by comedy legends from

another BBC show, the brilliant Still Game. Our actors turned models from this iconic series included our old pals Paul Riley

And Marc Cox, who played Winston and Tam respectively as well as former High Road actor Gordon Brown, who also appeared in Still Game. A fantastic evening which made the

National press the next day. Huge thanks to Bar Buddha and all the staff who made it a night to remember for all of us who

were there. On show here were lots of shirts from our former suppliers Toffs - The old fashioned shirt company, featuring

the likes of Tampa BayRowdies, Ghana 80s, Third Lanark, Barcelona 70 and Celtic’s 1888 jersey. A fantastic night!

Zico Fashion Show 2007

Previously we had another brilliant fashion show in 2007 when we were approached by a promotions company at our first store in Ruthven lane to take part in a show in Boho niteclub

, alongside three other brands. Again this was another brilliant night. We had a selection of top Scottish model talent to

wear our clothes and hit the catwalk in another successful night in front of a sold-out audience, many of whom then became

regular customers of Zico’s of Ashton Lane! At the time our suppliers were mostly London and Manchester designers

and wholesalers and we’d spent days in the car driving up and down the motorway to restock the shop every month!
Shortly after this show we were offered a new main door shop in Queen Margaret Drive and within months were back on

the move to our second shop premises! Great memories from some brilliant days and nights at Zico Fashion Boutique and

we have lots more events to come so please keep an eye on this page for future dates and fun nights…
